What is a turbobrush?

A turbobrush is an air-powered power nozzle containing a brush roll and a turbine to drive the brush roll. Turbobrushes are low-cost alternatives to electric power nozzles and use vacuum cleaner suction to spin the brush. Their purpose is the same as a power head on a canister vacuum: beat the dirt out of the carpet so it can be sucked into the vacuum cleaner.

What is a hand turbobrush used for?

Hand turbobrushes are useful for cleaning upholstered furniture and small areas of carpeting. They are particularly useful for pulling pet hair and similar material from fabric.

What is a combo tool?

Combination tools have two settings which are controlled by means of a toggle switch. With their brushes extended, a combo tool is suitable for cleaning bare floor surfaces such as hardwood and tile. To clean carpet or rugs, simply retract the brushes.

A good combo tool has notches cut into the brush bristles every inch or so. These notches, visible when the brush is extended, allow dirt to pass into the vacuum cleaner. Without notches, dirt is just pushed out of the way (think of a broom) instead of being sucked into the bag or dirt cup.
