How do I know when to replace my Royal vacuum belt?
We recommend replacing the belt on your vacuum cleaner or power nozzle every 12 months. To use a more scientific approach, here's what to do. Unplug your vacuum cleaner and open the belt compartment. Slowly turn the brushroll by hand until the belt has completed one full revolution. If you see any of the following, replace the belt.
- Cuts, nicks, splits or other tears
- Frayed sections or missing teeth
- Excessive stretch. A fingertip firmly pressed on the belt's longest unsupported stretch should result in 1/4 inch or less movement
What happens if I don't replace the belt?
At best, the belt will last a few more weeks or months before it eventually breaks.
At worst, the belt may shred and end up wrapped around various internal parts of the vacuum cleaner or power nozzle, requiring more extensive repairs.
